On the Dangers of Movie Theater Popcorn

The next time you’re at the movie theater, skip the popcorn.  Actually, never buy it again; it’s terribly bad for you.  This stems largely from it being cooked in coconut oil.  Here are the nutrition facts for a small unbuttered popcorn from a leading movie theater available online:

Calories:  400

Total Fat:  27g  (42% of your daily value)

Saturated Fat:  19g (95% of your daily value)

That 95% of your daily value of saturated fat is what’s really bad for you.  If you eat this, you’re done for the day; don’t plan on consuming anything else.

Note also that this is for a small unbuttered popcorn.  How often do you order a small unbuttered popcorn?  Most people probably get the large and eat at least half (I know I used to before I started reading nutrition facts).

Take good care of your body, and get some exercise.
